Who We Are
PSHC is a leading service provider to the speech and hearing impaired of southern California, providing nearly 80,000 patient visits each year. Approximately 60% of our work is dedicated to low-income patients all of whom are uninsured or underinsured. Providence is the only safety net clinic of its type in Orange County and the only agency of its kind willing to accept Medi-Cal and other patients with government sponsored insurance. The services provided by PSHC include:
- Individual and Group Speech Therapy
- Craniofacial Clinic in partnership with CHOC Children’s
- Stuttering and Fluency Treatment
- Occupational Therapy
- Social Skills Program for Pragmatic Language Disorders
- Hearing Screenings, Tests, and Evaluations
- Hearing Aid Evaluation and Fitting
- Providence Therapeutic Preschool
- Early Intervention Group Therapy
- Sedated ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response) testing in collaboration with CHOC Children’s
- Orange County Fall Prevention and Balance Center
- Tinnitus Treatment Program
- Evaluations and Treatment for Auditory Processing Disorder
Most service providers do not accept patients with government-sponsored insurance due to the low reimbursement rates. No other agency in Southern California provides comprehensive speech, language, and hearing services all under one roof, particularly to low-income people.
What We Do
Providence Speech and Hearing Center (Providence) was founded in 1965. What began in a single room at a local hospital has grown to become one of the largest clinics of its type in America. Our vision is to ensure that all people who require speech, language or hearing services receive the best possible care, regardless of their ability to pay. Approximately 60% of Providence’s work is dedicated to low-income patients, serving nearly 80,000 patients annually.
