According to a 2010 UCLA Health Policy Research study, 51. 8% of local youth in Stanton were considered overweight or obese. To help combat childhood obesity and increase the number of healthy youth in our community, join other volunteers to set the foundation of a community garden in Stanton. By participating in this activity, volunteers will help provide access to fresh fruits and vegetables for children and adults in the local community. Volunteers will build plant beds and install a fence. Individuals with tool and wood working experience will be helpful, but are not mandatory for this activity.
Garden site: 7455 Katella Ave. Stanton, CA 90680
Additional projects: Depending on the size of the group and the pace of the workday, construction of the sub-irrigation systems is possible.
By participating in this activity volunteers will be helping to accomplish the FACE 2024 Health Goal: Increase the number of healthy youth in OC by one-third
