Volunteer: Be a Friendly Visitor for home-bound seniors!
Since 2009, Meals on Wheels Orange County has connected home-bound older adults with Friendly Visitors to provide companionship, wellness checks, and social conversation at no cost to the Senior. We are excited to be resuming in-person Friendly Visits in 2023 and are in-need of volunteers to kick off our program!
• Friendly Visits occur for up to 1 hour, 1 time a week. Actual duration and frequency of visits are determined by each Senior and their Friendly Visitor.
• All Friendly Visitor Volunteers complete a thorough onboarding including an online background screening and in-person or live Zoom training, preparing you to interact with seniors, set and maintain boundaries, and engage in meaningful conversation using the Beautiful Questions method.
• Friendly Visitors will currently be following indoor masking recommendations; Porch Visitors and Friendly Callers are also available for individuals who are not comfortable interacting indoors at this time.
• Friendly Visitors and Seniors will co-sign a Code of Conduct with agreed-upon establishment of boundaries and rules adhering to the upmost safety of both Seniors and Volunteers in our program.
