Opportunities From: Orange County United Way

We’re excited to invite you to be part of an inspiring community event happening on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the Championship Soccer Stadium in Irvine. As part of the 2026 Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, over 70 organizations have joined together for The Person in Front of You campaign, a county-wide movement declaring that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. 

This event features a one-of-a-kind aerial photo, where 500 Orange County residents will come together to form the shape of a house, a powerful visual message of unity, dignity, and our shared commitment to housing for all. 

We’re looking for support in two key ways: 

 

1.    Behind-the-Scenes Volunteers 

Help us make this event unforgettable! We need passionate individuals to assist with: 

Shape Formation Guides  Registration  Setup & Tear Down  T-Shirt Distribution  And more!  All volunteers may also join the house formation

2.    Attendees to Form the “House” 

Be part of the message, literally! Join fellow community members in forming the shape of a home for the aerial photo. Participants can receive a limited-edition campaign t-shirt designed by renowned local artist Trevor Girard, on a first come-first served basis, while they last!

Create Snack Packs in Partnership with Orange County United Way! Provide a light meal for local individuals experiencing homelessness by donating Snack Packs. These convenient packs require no preparation, making them easy to carry and perfect for an on-the-go energy boost. Your donation not only offers a quick meal, but also provides essential nutrition to those in need.

Please note:  This is a donation drive where volunteers are asked to provide all materials, assemble the kits, and either drop them off at our office or request a quote from us to organize an assembly event. Snack Pack items must be unopened and placed in a re-sealable storage bag.

Items to be included in each Snack Pack:

Create Kits in Partnership with Orange County United Way! Make a difference in the lives of local families and individuals in need by donating hygiene essentials, which help provide cleanliness, improve health, and restore a sense of dignity and greater self-esteem.

Completed kits are passed along to our local emergency shelter, mental health and VA agency partners to share with those they serve.

Please note: This is a donation drive where volunteers are asked to provide all materials, assemble the kits, and either drop them off at our office or request a quote from us to organize an assembly event. Hygiene products must be new and placed in a re-sealable (gallon-sized) storage bag. Travel-size products are preferred.

Welcome Home Basket and help our Orange County neighbors settle into their new homes! These baskets provide households with basic
necessities and truly make a difference in people’s lives.

This volunteer opportunity is offered through the WelcomeHomeOC℠ housing navigation program, which helps families and individuals who are experiencing homelessness and have a housing voucher in hand to secure housing in private market apartments and ensures supportive services are provided to help those who are newly housed to stay in their homes for the long-term. The program is a joint effort between Orange County United Way’s United to End Homelessness℠ initiative, Public Housing Authorities, and rental property owners.

Join us as a Virtual Housing Champion in support of Orange County United Way’s United to End Homelessness initiative.

Housing Champions are volunteer citizen advocates in cities across Orange County proactively engaging with their elected and appointed leaders to ensure that every community is doing its best to develop more affordable and permanent supportive housing for all.

The mission of Housing Champions is to change the perceptions of permanent supportive housing and affordable homes among local policymakers and residents, and proactively provide, through city-based citizen advocates, support for fast-tracking approval of more homes for all.

Live virtual training (1-2 hours) is provided to Housing Champions, and a minimum volunteer commitment of 1-2 hours per month is required.
