Who We Are
Grandma's House of Hope Transitional Housing Shelter, takes in women (17 yrs and older) who have survived domestic violence, human trafficking, cancer recovery, and/or homelessness, along with an aftermath of addictions and compulsive disorders. They are provided a safe place to rest their head, encouragement to build their spiritual strength and time to heal their hearts. From 2004 to 2010, GHH evolved from an emergency shelter with 10 beds specializing in recovery and addiction, to a 24-month, 46-bed Transitional Housing Program, providing supportive services with a goal of self sufficiency and permanent housing. The program now offers case management, group/individual counseling, meals and workforce development. GHH welcomes hard-to-place cases, lifting the emphasis off the issue and focusing on the individual's specific needs. The women in the program are taught that acceptance, support and respect are the building blocks of successful relationships.
Nana's Kidz provides nutritional support to children living in local motels by delivering weekend and summer meals to children who are chronically hungry. The children must be enrolled in the school free lunch program and also be facing the hardship of living in a homeless condition. Each child receives 7 meals per weekend during the school year and 21 meals per week over the summer months, a backpack/school supplies, free haircut/ shoes, holiday gifts and nutritional education for parents and their children.
GHH's newest program is a workforce-development program, which consists of three computer labs that are available to transitional housing and Nana's Kidz participants, which give the opportunity for participants to learn new job skills and search for employment.
