We all know that poor reading skills are directly connected with unfavorable life outcomes.
Volunteers are needed to virtually tutor Santa Ana, 1st grade students that are, at risk or, not reading at grade level.
For 30 minutes a week and a 6 month commitment, you can help guide local students to a successful future without leaving your desk. The scheduling is flexible and determined by you.
Usually a fee for the background check will apply. But literacy is a pillar of focus for United Way, so we have invested in this effort which makes volunteering for this activity free to local volunteers that are focusing their efforts in Santa Ana Unified School District. At the end of the project all tutors will have an opportunity to meet their students. This is a pilot project. Please help make this a success, so we may continue this effort further.
