We are looking for volunteers for our Friendly Visitor program. The Friendly Visitor Program matches compassionate adults with seniors in need of some extra support and social interaction. Volunteers visit on a regular basis to provide support to seniors living on their own. Regular visits often lead to lasting and meaningful friendships. Friendly Visitor Volunteers’ primary tasks include:
- Companionship and Safety Supervision
- Play games or engage in creative arts
- Short-distance walks
- Reading, watching TV/movies together
- Other tasks subject to negotiation with visitors and Program Manager
Volunteers are not allowed to:
- Lift a person who has fallen to the floor or ground (911 should be called)
- Transport clients in volunteer's personal or client’s vehicle
- Run errands for clients in volunteer’s personal or client’s vehicle
- Provide personal care (grooming, toileting, bathing)
- Move furniture
- Housekeeping
- Accept money or donations or tips, gifts, hospitality or entertainment worth more than $20 in value
REQUIREMENTS :
- Must be +18
- +14 may be accompanied by an adult
- Completed Volunteer Application & background check
